Ulrich Wolff von Weidenfeld (Jahrgang 1932), der Sohn eines Justizbeamten, wuchs im Mönchengladbacher Stadtteil Windberg in einem kunstinteressierten katholischen Elternhaus auf. Der später ein Juwelier- und Goldschmiedegeschäft in Viersen Betreibende beschäftigte sich bereits im Kindesalter mit der genauen Betrachtung von Kunstwerken und entwickelte sich zu einem Kenner der Kunstszene. Zeit seines Lebens setzte er sich aber auch intensiv mit geistigen Fragen und der katholischen Kirche auseinander. Seine Wissbegierde und das tiefe Empfinden für alles Umgebende ließen ihn zu einem kritischen Beobachter werden, der das politische Zeitgeschehen und Kunstschaffen bis zur Gegenwart genau verfolgte. Ausführlich würdigt er den katholischen Priester und Gesellschaftsethiker Dr. Anton Heinen, indem er seinen autobiografischen Betrachtungen einen ungekürzten Bericht aus dessen Nachlass beifügt.
