This thesis makes a speciality of the improvement of gold- and non-classical platinum-based anti-cancer brokers that reveal distinctively assorted anti-cancer mechanisms in comparison to the widely used cisplatin. those steel complexes include N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands that are capable of shape robust M-C(NHC) bonds, conferring excessive balance and favorable lipophilicity, reactivity and binding specificity of steel complexes on biomolecules. the writer demonstrates major advances made in anti-cancer gold(III), gold(I) and platinum(II) complexes. special chemical synthesis, in vitro and/or in vivo anti-cancer actions are essentially provided together with: (i) a category of Au(III) complexes containing a hugely fluorescent N^N^N ligand and NHC ligand that at the same time act as fluorescent thiol “switch-on” probes and anti-cancer brokers; (ii) a dinuclear gold(I) advanced with a combined diphosphine and bis(NHC) ligand exhibiting favorable balance and displaying major inhibition of tumor progress in self sustaining mice types without observable unwanted side effects; and (iii) a panel of solid luminescent cyclometalated platinum(II) complexes showing excessive specificity to localize to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) area, inducing ER rigidity and telephone apoptosis. those works spotlight the scientific strength that gold and platinum complexes supply for melanoma treatment.
